Christmas traditions from here and elsewhere

Reunion Island 🏝

While we spend Christmas under the metropolitan cold, others spend it in the warmth tasting exotic fruits with their feet in the sand! And it happens in particular in the Indian Ocean, on the island of Reunion 🏝 (yes yes, we have a connoisseur of the field among the team!)

On the program :

  • Music: Christmas in Reunion Island 🎢 (a very traditional song that children love to sing)
  • Arranged rum for the aperitif πŸ₯ƒ
  • A sausage rougail for the main course πŸ₯˜
  • Christmas fruit for dessert: lychees picked straight from the trees! 🀀
  • And of course, after this delicious meal, it's time for a swim in the lagoon to cool down 🐠 Yes, 30Β°C on average all the same!

Lapland ⛄️

In Lapland, or Santa Claus country as we like to call it, the Finns celebrate Christmas differently ☝🏼 For some, it's mass above all, for others it's the meal. For the Finns, it is the sauna β˜€οΈ

Yes, it's a Christmas tradition. Families gather in a sauna and enjoy the warmth of the sauna to gossip. Apparently, its steam helps to purify the body and mind. What more could you ask for? πŸ€”

Well, that's just it. It takes more for some. The braver ones like to jump into the icy snow after spending some time in a sauna or hot bath. This would serve to firm up the skin. As they say: "You have to suffer to be beautiful" ❄️

Does it make you want to? So do we... But while waiting for the vacations, we propose you the discovery of the city of Annecy in an original way πŸ™„

In metropolitan France, we celebrate Christmas with our families, in the cold, we eat turkey and foie gras toasts. Yes, but elsewhere how is it?
