Our 3 most beautiful Gyropod rides in Lyon

Published on 22/12/2018

After our top 5 original activities to do on the weekend, this time we only take you on a Segway gyropode to walk around Lyon. And for that, we made a selection of the top 3 most beautiful rides to do with a gyropode on our guided tours. We are going to share with you these places, often more authentic and more secret than those favored by visitors who often turn to the busy streets of Old Lyon and the Presqu'île.

On these rides, we offer you wonder, adventure, sensations and especially the pleasure of sharing an incredible moment together. Among all our Segway rides, here are the ones we particularly recommend!

The Fourvière hill

What if we went to perch on the most beautiful viewpoints of the city? It is here, on the hill of Fourvière that was born the city of Lyon, founded, let's remember it anyway, nearly 2000 years ago (that makes some candles)! To get there, we follow a bicycle path along the Saône before going up by the Observance, the Fort and the Loyasse cemetery. It is sometimes difficult to say that we are in the city center whereas there is only greenery around us. Passage obliged by the footbridge of Quatre-vent. The view is incredible on the rival hill, Croix-Rousse, but also on the quays of Saône and the Monts d'Or. The stop is perfect for some original pictures as the blogger Lamalice did during her little excursion.

The walk continues towards a must: the esplanade of the basilica. Here, the view is insane: we see the whole city! After some anecdotes on the place, we go back down by the Roman theaters and the Gourguillon. Here, it is the adventure: a descent, paving stones and some steps! After that you can say: "I did it!

The Confluence district

Here is a completely atypical district. And it's true that at first sight, with its original architecture, it's not the place you would necessarily go for a walk... And yet! It is our top 2 visits to make. First of all, because to go there, you have to go through the banks of the Rhône on the South side until the Raymond Barre bridge. And that, already it is too much top. We take advantage quietly of the fitted out banks to refine a driving of expert Segway. Once on the bridge, first panorama: the confluence and the Museum of Confluence. The building imposes with its lines and its forms which make it one of the most visited museums of Lyon!

Then, we take you to the Saône side and there it is the total shift compared to the Rhône. First of all it is less noisy and everything has been done to make you feel good with terraces, walks between office buildings always more original than the others, like the headquarters of GL Events, Euronews or Cardinal.

Finally, because you are visiting a neighborhood with a history. Did you know that Napoleon I wanted to build a summer palace here, in Lyon and more precisely in the Confluence?

The Parc de la Tête d'Or

We finish our top 3 with one of the most beautiful places in Lyon: the 117 hectares of the Parc de la Tête d'Or, its rose garden, its island of the Velodrome, in short, a real haven of peace that you must see. The park is part of the tour "Les Incontournables". A 2-hour guided tour on a gyro-pod during which you can also see the banks of the Rhône (this time on the north side), a part of the Presqu'île (the Place des Terreaux) and a small part of the Vieux-Lyon through small unusual passages. The strong point of the walk remains the park, where we spent about twenty minutes. There is a lot to do and to see! And then we enter on the North side, by the Cité Internationale. The goal is to take advantage of what we call here the "green lung" of Lyon. :)
